SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT!
New Well-being Grant Funding Program

01/05/2024

On 30th June 2022, the Upper Lachlan Foundation received a donation of $475,000 from Uniting Care after they became the owner of Crookwell/Taralga Aged Care Pty Ltd (CTAC).

This donation was a generous contribution to the Upper Lachlan Shire community in recognition of years of the private, business and community support made by locals to the CTAC facilities of View Haven Lodge and Sunset Lodge and their residents over their many years of operation.

Following receipt of the donation, the ULF established a new named fund with the Greater Good in December 2022, the Uniting Care Fund. The ULF Board of Directors have had extensive discussions on how the income may be best distributed in keeping with the mission of Uniting and its predecessor CTAC whilst remaining true to the purpose of the Foundation, including the entire Shire, and acknowledging the in-kind and financial contributions of the Crookwell and Taralga communities over many years.

The ULF Board of Directors are now pleased to announce a new Wellbeing Grant Funding program scheduled to open in May 2024. The Grant Funding program will be available annually with a focus on distributing funds to not-for-profit organisations who;

  • provide relief to those suffering from poverty, sickness, distress, misfortune or hopelessness,

  • promote the welfare of people who are vulnerable and/or disadvantaged,

  • provide support to aged and patient care services, pastoral care services, foster care services, family services, youth services, disability support services, counseling and mediation services, early learning and childcare services, and retirement services.

Priority will be given to applicants from the Crookwell and Taralga regions in recognition of the two communities that hosted the CTAC facilities now owned by Uniting Care. Funds not distributed to these areas each year will be allocated to applicants from other areas within the Upper Lachlan Shire, as long as the applications meet the ULF Board criteria. These criteria have been determined to ensure the ULF Board is acting in accordance with requests from  CTAC and Uniting, and acting within its own Charter.

In addition to income generated from the Uniting Care Fund, income from the Frank Willis Memorial Fund will also be directed toward the new Wellbeing Grant Funding program. The ULF, acting as the Trustee for this fund, has determined that this action is in accordance with the benefactors' wishes for distributions from this fund.

This new grant program will make a positive and lasting impact on the lives of Upper Lachlan Shire residents, especially those within Crookwell and Taralga, by providing an ongoing income stream that will help promote wellbeing within our community.

Applications for the Wellbeing Grant Fund will open on Monday 13th May 2024 and close on Friday 31st May. Application forms will be available on the Upper Lachlan Foundation website.

2023 GRANT FUNDING PROGRAM
$10,680 distributed to local causes

Grant funding applications were tabled and carefully considered by the Board at our November 2024 meeting. With 19 applications from across our shire, and the amount of funding on offer this year, there were many factors to take into consideration that influenced the outcome of the applications. Congratulations to all who applied, and we encourage those who were unsuccessful to try again next year.
